Hot Cross Buns & Bermuda Fish Cakes

Hot Cross Buns & Bermuda Fish Cakes

I could not think of anything sweeter to blog about on this Blessed, Easter Sunday, than Hot Cross Buns & Bermuda Fish Cakes!  The only thing sweeter would have been blogging from Bermuda: And that was almost a reality a week ago!  But here I type from the warm, sunny, climbing temperatures, of soon to be HOTLANTA, on this Easter Sunday Celebration
!

On the stove are the makings of my Bermuda Fish Cakes.  Aunt Josie makes them the BEST!  She mixes a dash of this, stirs in a pinch of that, along with loads of love and fish and  potatoes at the right time: and the spices seals the deal to an Easter tradition and delight. So, here I am with my best attempt, of making Aunt Josie's Bermuda Fish Cakes for the first time. Well, the one thing I know that I have inherited from the family lineage, is LOADS OF LOVE.  So here goes! Check with me later on in the day to see how the fish cakes come out. I may even post a photo.

Hot Cross Buns are another Easter tradition in Bermuda, along with the ginger beer punch. While I am attempting the Fish Cakes for the first time, I will leave the Hot Cross Buns to the experts. Instead, I have substituted Aunt Josie's Bermuda Banana Nut Bread, which I do that quite well. It was a favorite at my Tea Shop.

Kites are another part of my favorite memories of Easter in Bermuda.  They line the shores of the beaches in multiple sizes, array of colours and shapes.  I've got my kite, and Hopeton has his helicopters.  All in all, I say it's the making of a great Easter Sunday!  Whatever makes Easter extra special to you; be it Sunrise service; time on the beach or in the mountains; Sunday morning Mass, sharing Easter Dinner with family or quietly reflecting on the greatest gift of all: the resurrection of Jesus Christ, BE FULLY PRESENT! Now that's DA Art of Living!
