One of my BESTEST girlfriends came to the first Thanksgiving Dinner I hosted in my new home up in the Ellijay mountains over eight years ago. The blessings of that day and blessed memories of it continue to abound! The day was replete with the aromas of Thanksgiving, fire in the fireplace, stories, games and even an early start on door to door Christmas caroling. Some of my guest brought their violins, their voices and most importantly their spirit of Thank-Ful-Ness!
We each jotted on a blank slip of paper, framed in Thanksgiving colours, that for which we were most Thankful. The stories ran the gamut, but one in particular stood out of them all. It was the one that read "I am most thankful for friends that are hand-picked family members." Isn't that the God-honest truth! That's the added bonus for which I too am reminded of this holiday season, hand-picked family members. They are wonderful additions to the family in which I was born into.
Above is a picture of such two friends/family. Cheryl Adams who now occupies my former Tea House space. And she's given it her personal, warm, rich flair of her Mountain Treasures. And then there's Terry Ellis, my brother from another mother. He's our friend, confidant, prayer warrior and one of the best CPA, Tax Accountants up in dem dere mountains. Got to spend some time with he and his lovely wife Venae on last week. It was a family reunion that grew as attended an outdoor wedding and became an extension to this newly joined couple. It's ture: people flitter and flutter into ourlives like butterflies: bringing colour, smiles, sweetness and buttefly blessings with them!
Pause to count your blessings, not just at this time of the year, but glad for a month that compels us to reflect of the goodness of God. May you be reminded that the beauty of all and those around us are blessings from on High. Recognizing that God is everywhere waiting to bless you abundantly, above all is truly DA Art of Living!
May you be blessed by this song from Mandisa entitled "God Speaking"
