Oh! You Gon Blog Today!
Oh! You Gon Blog Today!
I love to laugh and be around people that enjoy laughter too. My soul just feels better when I laugh, especially one of those deep, belly laughs. Have you noticed that when you laugh, others laugh too. It's infectiously contagious! Well one such comedian, Kevin Hart, has people laughing all over the world. One line he's famous for is "You Gon Learn Today!" Well, I've borrowed thatline to coin my one liner "You Gon Blog Today!"
So many things vie for my attention. The days seem to have less than 24 hours in it when I look at my incomplete task list, at the end of the day. Time management is key and I always have room to improve in that area. But I am proud that I did two things right to start of this day, I gave thanks to God on High, and was determined that I was "Gon Blog Today." I love to blog because it allows an outward written expression of what I've observed or experienced.
Last week when I was in Florida, I'm there most times now, but last week I was gifted with some plump, delicious, green, full avocados from Dr. Carrington's tree. The tree must have yielded hundreds of avocados, because he gave me a bag full of what fell to the ground. Well my intent was to bring them home, and share them with others. Well, many did not successfully make the journey, due to an "oops" when I dropped the bag holding them. And if you know like I do, smashed avocados only make for good guacamole. And it has to be made within minutes of the maceration.
To my great disappointment, into the trash, the smashed avocados went. Only a few survived. A young guy on the plane, who is a restaurant manager, became the owner of one; another found its way into the hands of a dear girlfriend who came by shortly after my arrival, and she loves to bake; and two to family members and the final one made its way into a newly created dessert I tried. So I only had one from the bunch in which I started. I was determined to make something different from this precious fruit that had survived the journey. I inquired of friends how they usually prefer their avocados. And the responses ran the gamut, from in a salad, with noodles, on a bread with tomatoes , next to rice and beans when in Uganda.
I was determined to learn today a new way to prepare this rich, fruit of goddess goodness. I pealed my one plump avocado, placed it in a blended, added about 8 ounces of rice dream vanilla milk. Put a touch of island vanilla and pear essence, added some maple syrup and a touch of natural sugar, and blended on ice cream mode. Voila, a smooth, creamy rich dessert was the yield. Into a small serving dish, it made its way into the freezer. Hours later, a pale green, smooth dessert, along with a biscoff biscuit became the featured creation from it's original beginnings. I did learn today and blogged about it. I did what I said I was going to do and checked it off my to do list. Now that's DA Art of Living!
