Breathe Deeply
Breathe Deeply
From birth a newborn has an intrinsic factor that allows their abdomens to fully expands and contract naturally. They were born deep breathers, allowing an even exchange of carbon dioxide for oxygen: they demonstrate natural respiratory balance. So where on earth did we, as teenagers and as adults, become such shallow breathers: allowing carbon dioxide to build up within out bodies causing mental fog, muscle aches and fatigue?
I would venture to say that life, and life at a fast pace hindered our breathing at a young age. Even posture and the many demands can create a level of anxiety, that we truly forget to breathe deeply and become shallow chest breathers. Our productivity becomes shallow; our creativity becomes shallow and eventually our purposed existence becomes shallow too.
As one doctor noted, deep-breathing yoga techniques have proven extremely effective in handling depression, anxiety, and stress-related disorders. I often note “needs to breathe” on a patient’s chart. Not the shallow chest breathing many of us default too, but deep, meaningful breaths, or “belly breathing”. I would add, that frequent belly laughs should be a part of your daily experience too!
Imagine all of the clarity that comes with breathing deeply. Quietly, Imagine the regained energy that comes with breathing deeply. Peacefully Imagine your deep tissues functioning optimally when you breathe deeply. IMAGINE what you can IMAGINE when you breathe deeply. Inhale slowly from you diaphragm, exhale the cleansing breath slowly and effortlessly, with your diaphragm collapsing. Inhale slowly, exhale fully and slowly.
"Breath deeply and appreciate the moment. Living in the moment could be the meaning of life." Now that's DA Art of Living!
