Take Flight
Take Flight!
Here I seat, 33,000 feet above ground in window seat 1A, as I stare in great marvel at the puffy display of clouds lit up by the sun setting in the West. We move through the clouds with great ease, unaware of the speed of 500 mph or more than 600 knots. An occasional bump, as we move through these moisture balls called clouds, reminds us that Mother Nature is still in control.
I never tire of this aviational wonder. The sounds of the engines reving up as they prepare to put the airbus a few miles above ground excites me! The sound even acts as a sedative, often rocking me to sleep before take off.
With hundreds of gallons of fuel on board; an excessive amount of overstuffed baggage, and thousands of pounds of human and sometimes animal body weight, we take off at what appears to be a 45 degree angle. (I knew my 9th grade geometry would come in handy some day).
With an easing of the throttle, I continue to be amazed on how this wide body, metallic structure, held together by nuts and bolts, manned by a crew that can handle most situations, manages to stay in the air. We have Alberto Santos-Dumont, along with the Wright Brothers to thank for their exhaustive attempts and final success in aviation victory. And decades later there has been much improvement (i.e. the double deckers, the concord, military vessels and private aircrafts). But I still like the orchestrated simplicity of containerizing hundreds of passengers and their cherised electronic and holiday valuables onto a plane, with high hopes of the miracle called arrival.
The plane navigates across the sea of clouds, descending at a slower rate than the ascent. Those nebula appear as white cotton candy within arms length reach. The flaps open and eventually the wheels exit their cavern bracing to bare the weight of it all. And the skilled hand of the pilots, along with a team of Master Air Traffic Controllers, and the mercy of God, the Master Controller, makes it way onto the amber and blue lit run way. We have landed.
One thing for certain, it's vital to keep our dreams alive and to do all that is needed for thost dream to become our reality to TAKE FLIGHT! Now that's DA Art of Living!
