Child's Play
Child's Play
Out of the womb we plopped onto the earthly scene with great wonder! Every smell, sight, sound, touch, and taste was all together a new experience: a first in so many ways. And with growth, and time, wonder and exploration continued. There were no boundaries, no fears and everything was possible. This exploration took time, strengthening and repetition, but eventually we got a handle on it: painting that first masterpiece; playing that first tune on the piano; pedaling that first red tricycle; learning to hop scotch; jumping single and then double dutch rope; leaping into the pool without arm floaties ; navigating your skates/rollerblades; leaping on a trampoline; or laughing and dancing regardless of who may be watching. Anything was possible.! And we played long and hard with abandon. Nothing could stop the invincible, younger version of you!
So when did it all take a turn to disbelief, uncertainty, fear, sedentary desk jobs; closed in cubicles; and the only wonder, is if you'll just make it to Friday. Somewhere along the way there was a paradigm shift that affected most, but not all of us. We believed that only what was before us was possible, and mostly with supervised guidance, or someone else's approval. We became pressed for time and our faces turned in with doubt, skepticism and worry. Joy is there, but it takes some coaxing. The creative side has been so deeply suppressed that we questions those who are free in their being and have the daring power to dream and make their dreams a reality! And you look around and find yourself just making it through! Love, patience, joy and kindness are no longer bedfellows. That's not living! And it is certainly so far away from the joyful, explorative, full of wonder child's play that we inherited innately.
The dream is still there and the power to dream, desire to play, instinct to explore and appreciate the wonder of life is very much alive and in you, but may be suppressed in need of unearthing. Water your dreams, nurture time for play and surround yourself with people who laugh easily and don't take them selves seriously all of the time. You never know what lies ahead, but we can walk, run or even dance through this beautiful life, filled with wonder and wonderful people who too, like you, want to LIVE AGAIN! Now that's DA Art of Living!
