"Start Spreading the news..."
The New Year found me in my birth town, the city that never sleeps: New York. So you must know that while some part of me was overjoyed for the opportunity to visit family, make new acquaintances, see the remnants of the Christmas colours throughout the city, and the lights that outline the bridges of New York that connect the boroughs, and Jersey, and the must immersion into the broadway and culinary culture that only New York can offer, I looked forward to eventually getting in a good nights sleep(smiles), because you don't sleep much in New York, since so much awaits you!
It was a joy for us to visit my grandmother, and see life through her eighty-eight year old eyes, and hear her retell the stories over and over again, not knowing that she just told us or inquired the same of us moments ago. But with the love, patience and compassion we show others, we demonstrated the same to her. It's not easy to see your parents or grandparents begin to fade into a space of repitition and unfamiliarity. But what I hold near and dear are the stories of yesterday that she can recall down to the finite seconds and in 3-dimension. Her laughter around reliving such stories, allowed us to share in her joy. Also, my grandmother's love of music, as an accomplished pianist, helped us to ring in the Sabbath with song. "Trust and Obey", "Redeemed", and many others were the notes that resonated with us and easy recall for grandma. And of all the things her memories fails to recall, she clings to and remembers the most important of all: Jesus.
Now for New York, or any other part of the world, that's GOOD NEWS! It's up to you and I. Let's keep spreading the news (Good news of the gospel)!
Now that's DA Art of Living!
A little Frank Sinatra for ya!
